Have you been naughty or nice this year?
Don’t be looking over your shoulder as you know what I am talking about….
How many times have you said no to that candy bar and yes to that salad bar? How many times this year have you opted for the grilled chicken breast instead of that grilled double-decker burger with extra bacon? How many times have to said no to ice cream and said yes to frozen grapes. If you are anything like me, you have said no way too many times and this is one day baby we are saying yes and yes please to this decadent over the top Panettone French Toast with Buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup that will have you smiling and put a little spring in your step the whole day long.
I don’t hardly ever indulge but boy when I do… I go BIG!!!!
Why you are going to love our Panettone French Toast with Buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup
My whole house smells fantastic after whipping up a batch of these delicious Panettone French Toast with Buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup. This special type of French toast is cooked until golden brown and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, fragrant like the holidays and delicately sweet and citrus. These breakfast treats will have your guests swooning for seconds and so deliciously fragrant that they even woke up my blurred eyed teenagers early on a Saturday morning. They are that good!
What can you do with left over Italian Panettone bread?
I am generally not even a big fan of Italian panettone bread but it seems like every year we seem to end up with a colossal sized one that we can never finish. Just plain or toasted panettone bread is just plain boring to me. My goodness, don’t let my Italian mom know that I have told you that blasphemy or otherwise I will be ostracized for life.
However, really seriously, when is the last time you had a panettone bread that you just could not stop eating until you finished the whole darn thing? Panettone bread needs a little help with some holiday spice and a little Christmas cheer (alcohol) to get the party started.
During the holidays it is nice to treat yourself once in a while and your guests. This Holiday Spiced Panettone French Toast with Cointreau butter Syrup is sure to please everyone on your list and is a breeze to throw together.
What is Cointreau?
Cointreau is a delicious orange liquor that is lovely just over the rocks, cosmopolitan or even in your morning syrup as I have done here today.
We had to make just a few alterations so I used egg beaters and almond milk instead of eggs and full cream, so there you have it folks. It must be diet food… NOT. Panettone French Toast with Buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup indulgent and the perfect way to start the holiday morning. We have also tried this French toast with a little Apricot Freezer Jam recipe drizzle on top and it is sublime. Buon Natale, BAM!!! My, does this ever look good. I go out looking for panettone after Christmas solely for making french toast. One you try it, you just cannot let pass up the opportunity to make it again. It is simply the best .. well, I thought it was. Your Cointreau and cinnamon maple syrup has done the impossible. It’s taken a perfect dish and made it even better. I’d say it’s a Christmas miracle!!!
Wishing you and your family the best of holidays, BAM, and a joy-filled 2015.
Wow, now this is a special breakfast, worthy of the big Dec 25th day I think! It would wake me up as well, I’m not surprised the aroma lured them out of bed. Lovely idea, I shall file this away to whip up some time soon! Merriest of Christmases and a blessed happy holiday to you and your loved ones!! xx
I’ve just bought some maple syrup so I’m going to try this for sure 🙂
This is always something I’ve wanted to do but I never have been able to say NO to eating whole Panettone! 🙂 Oh how I would love to wake up to this on Christmas Day! Bet the boys devoured this pretty quickly. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!
LOL, I could easily ignore a loaf of panettone, but not your French toast. Boy, does it look exquisite! Merry, merry Christmas, my friend!!
Bobbi, this recipe looks amazing! I’m always looking for a special Christmas morning breakfast and I just might have to try this!
Sounds great, Bobbi, and can just see your guys streaming into the kitchen! Hope you and yours have the best of Christmases. Happy New Year, too… just around the corner, eh!
Hi BAM, this looks lovely. I’ve got a panettone sitting in my cupboard just waiting for me to crack it open. Can’t wait! They’re so big though, so I suspect this recipe will no doubt come in handy for the more than excessive leftovers which will still be sitting around several days later! 🙂 Happy Christmas!
Oh my gosh, Bobbi, I’ve just been staring open-mouthed at these pictures as I read your description. That buttery maple Cointreau syrup is divine and I will be picking up the ingredients for this tomorrow so we can have it over the holidays. You’re right – I say no too many times during the year and it’s time for a spectacular treat! I am so excited to eat this I’m practically speechless! lol. Cliff laughs himself silly over the fact that I get SO passionate about food. Thanks for a fantastic recipe!!
I loved Shashi, Jasline and Katerina and have visited their blogs. It’s so great to meet so many talented foodies. Thanks for the introductions!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, sweet friend. xoxo
Have a wonderful Christmas!
Oh.my.god.Cointreau butter? Really?? This is soooo decadent!!
I’m not a fan of panettone either. I find them very dry and tasteless and I can’t believe how many I see being sold at this time of the year. Clearly a lot of people love panettone! My mother used to be given one every year and she didn’t like them either. She would chop it up and turn it into things like trifle, toast with jam and French toast. I do love the look of this and it goes way beyond how I’ve ever experienced panettone. I do love cooking with Cointreau at Christmas time and I can just imagine the beautiful Christmasy scent this put through your home xx
What an incredibly delicious way of using Panettone, it makes my Christmas better every year 😀
I’ll try this!
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
WooHoo! This looks so yummy!
This would be nice for a Christmas breakfast, good stuff
Okay, now that would be a perfect way to wake up Christmas morning – opening presents can wait until this gets scarfed down. Do you think it would be awful to just drink the syrup out of the pitcher? (I’ve been naughty all year so why start trying to be nice this late in the year?).
Love that ornament on your tree!
Have a very Merry Christmas. I certainly hope that little Buddy has some presents waiting for him because I’m guessing he was very good this year.
This french toast sounds heavenly! I would definitely say “yes” to a slice of this! 🙂
You go, BAM! I am with you. I try to eat healthy most of the times…though I have a feeling I probably save a little more room for treats than you do. That said, I still deserve this, right?! ; ) I saw panettone French toast on a show once and it really looks divine – almost as good as yours. It is just the thing to kick off a celebratory holiday morning with your family. You did a beautiful job! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
This looks fantastic! You are so right, love having some Panettone, but we never finish the loaf. Problem solved!!
WOW…this rich, elegant, and flavorful french toasts are the very essence of holidays….they look so good, made us hungry after dinner…we might just try this out now for dessert, thanks so much…Happy Holidays!!! 🙂
Panettone is one of my favorite breads for French toast and I love Cointreau in syrup. We’ve made both, but now that I think of it, I don’t know if we made them together. Time to change that! 🙂 Happy Holidays BAM!
oh my oh my oh my. I am gaining weight just looking at this fabulous French toast! Stunning!
I’ve always wondered what the big deal is about Panettone…..but, this sounds really amazing…I’ll buy one after Christmas at half price
and give it a try. Great recipe.
Warmly, Carol from Chicago
Dear Carol, thanks so much and thanks for stopping by. Buying a Panettone bread at half price after the holidays is brilliant. Wishing you and your family a very safe and happy holiday!
I agree about panettone. I stopped buying it because it ended up in the rubbish bin. If I’d thought about French toast with boozy syrup I’d still be eating it. 🙂
Bobbie, I <3 You! Thank you for asking me to guest post – I was so humbled and honored you thought to ask me!
As for this scrumptious plate of deliciousness – I can only imagine how wonderful this made your house smell! Wow! I just recently tried Panettone for the first time – the thought of making it into french toast with all spice has me drooling! P.s love that you used almond milk in this!
