Seriously simple dessert recipe that comes together in a snap. We have been crazy busy just like you but we love having guests. Our solution is to make simple make ahead desserts that taste like you slaved away in the kitchen all day. Well 15 minutes of good easy work anyways…throw some flour on your face and fake how hard it was to throw together.

Lemon Rose Cardamom Cheesecake Mousse is the perfect ending to our Slow Roasted Moroccan Spiced Leg of Lamb meal. The light citrus and just a touch of rose water and cardamom bring these delicious ethnic flavors alive.

We served our Lemon Rose Cardamom Cheesecake Mousse cups with a pot of Healthy Moroccan Mint Tea. The combination of the rich creamy and the mint is heavenly.

We topped our Lemon Rose Cardamom Cheesecake Mousse with crushed pistachios and edible dried rose petals. However, you could also top with in season pomegranates as the crunch is nice and that pop of red gorgeous this time of the year.

We made this dessert recipe low Carb, diabetic friendly and used a sugar alternative. This recipe is also gluten-free. If you want to make this recipe vegan, swap out the heavy whipping cream for coconut whipping cream and use vegan cream cheese.

You can buy rosewater at Indian and Middle Eastern Provision stores or you can try stores like Trader Joe’s, Wholefoods or Health food stores or do like we did and avoid the crowds and just order it on Amazon.

Rosewater is more of an aromatic than a taste. We feel the best way to gauge how much to add is to start with a teaspoon and add to your liking just until you start to smell the aroma. A little goes a very long way.

Lemon Rose Cardamom Cheesecake Mousse

Lemon Rose Cardamom Cheesecake Mousse is a decadently rich, slightly sweet, tart and aromatic creamy dreamy 15-minute dessert.

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Yields: 6 servings

Ingredients

Heavy cream – 1 cup

Cardamom – ½ teaspoon ground

Rose water – 1 teaspoon

Lemon zest – zest of 2 lemons

Sugar substitute – 4 tablespoons (or to taste)

Cream cheese – light neufenchal 8 ounces

Pistachio nuts – ½ cup crushed

Edible rose petals – 1 tablespoon or 2 tablespoons or pomegranate seeds

Directions

1In a mixer whip heavy cream until thick peaks formed and then add the cardamom, rose water, lemon zest and sugar until well mixed. Remove your sweetened whipped cream from bowl and set aside.

2Add your cream cheese to the mixer and whip until smooth. Fold in your cardamom, rosewater and lemon heavy whipped cream into your whipped cream cheese. Check for sweetness. Adjust to your desired sweetness.

3Spoon or pipe your Lemon Rose Cardamom Cheesecake Mousse into little cups and garnish with pistachio nuts and edible rose petals. Enjoy!
