Stir Frying allows you to keep all the vitamins and minerals of the vegetable and have a nice little crisp bite to the vegetable. How many of you have gone to those dreaded family events where you are served overcooked beans swimming in a "pool of cardiac arrest waiting to happen cream of mushroom soup" with those fried onions on top? That recipe might have been okay in the 1950’s but now we know what we need to do to stay healthy and still make delicious recipes.

Garlicky Sesame Stir Fried Green Beans is naturally vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, keto-friendly, cardiac friendly and diabetic friendly.

In less than 5 minutes, this dish can be on your table. We do not boil the vegetables and blanch them. However instead, we do a quick steam for 1-2 minutes with just a tablespoon of water before we do a dry fry in the pan. The beauty of this dish is with loads of things in the oven this can be done very quickly on the stove top.

Garlicky Sesame Stir Fried Green Beans

Garlicky Sesame Stir Fried Green Beans are a quick and easy vegan side dish that is an explosion of flavor with just a handful of ingredients.

 

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 5 mins
  • Yields: 4 servings

Ingredients

String beans – 1 pound, washed and end removed

Water – 2 tablespoons

Garlic – 2 cloves peeled and minced

Sesame oil – 1.5 teaspoons

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon toasted

Directions

1In a wok or large frying pan add your string beans, water and garlic. Cover and steam over med- high heat for 2 minutes. Remove lid.

2Drizzle with sesame oil and season with salt and pepper and stir fry for about 1 minute or until the beans are still bright green and are aldente. Toss with toasted sesame seeds.

3Enjoy!
