    Super Easy Ingredients

    Asian flavors are simple, clean-eating and delicious. Our Asian Beans has just a handful of ingredients, is super easy to make and you probably have everything in your pantry to make it right now.

    1. Green beans - we used fresh in season. However, in a pinch you could substitute with frozen.
    2. Fresh garlic - fresh is always best but can substitute with ground dried garlic.
    3. sesame seeds - you can use either toasted white or black. If you have extra black sesame seeds lift over, be sure to try our gluten free Black Sesame Cookies.

    Better alternative to the Green Bean Casserole

    Stir Frying allows you to keep all the vitamins and minerals of the vegetable and have a nice little crisp bite to the vegetable.

    How many of you have gone to those dreaded family events where you are served overcooked green beans swimming in a "pool of cardiac arrest waiting to happen cream of mushroom soup" with those fried onions on top? That recipe might have been okay in the 1950’s but now we know what we need to do to stay healthy and still make delicious recipes.

    In less than 5 minutes, this dish can be on your table. We do not boil the vegetables and blanch them. However instead, we do a quick steam for 1-2 minutes with just a tablespoon of water before we do a dry fry in the pan.

    The aromatics with a little oil go into the wok and stir fry just until aromatic. Add the firmest vegetables that take the longest to cook next with just a tablespoon of water and cover for just until minute to do a quick steam. Remove the lid and add in the remaining ingredients to finish cooking your vegetable stir fry.

    How to store cooked green beans?

    Cooked green beans can be stored in a cover container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or up to 2 months in a freezer safe container.

    What type of sesame seed can be used in a stir fry?

    Toasted sesame seeds are best. You can use either black or white sesame seeds. If you have raw sesame seeds, toast them lightly in a pan without oil just until toasty and golden.

    Yes, green beans are very low in carbohydrates.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound String beans
      washed and end removed
    • 2 tablespoon Water
    • 2 cloves Garlic
      peeled and minced
    • 1.5 teaspoon Sesame oil
    • Salt and pepper
      to taste
    • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds toasted

    Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • In a wok or large frying pan add your string beans, water and garlic. Cover and steam over med- high heat for 2 minutes. Remove lid.
    • Drizzle with sesame oil and season with salt and pepper and stir fry for about 1 minute or until the beans are still bright green and are aldente. Toss with toasted sesame seeds.
    • Enjoy!

    Notes

    Use a light flavored oil to fry your string beans in like a light olive oil. 
    You may also use black sesame seeds instead of white sesame seeds.
