You are just going to love this Cozy Chicken Curry Soup as it is happily gluten-free, dairy free, low fat and warming. If you would like to make this meal paleo just swap out the regular potato for a sweet potato. Yum! This is a great idea for leftover turkey. I ordered an 18 pounder, not knowing what was going to happen, and I guess we’re going to have a lot of leftover turkey! Thanks! And Happy Thanksgiving!
Hiya Mimi!, you might have a bit of leftovers…LOL Soup is always a good ideas as us moms can pack in a hearty amount of veggies in there without anyone noticing. Wishing you a super Thanksgiving weekend. Take Care
So good and so easy! Made a batch of your cozy chicken curry soup this weekend and it’s was the perfect way to warm up after raking leaves all afternoon. Will make a big batch next time and save some for the freezer.
Thanks so much Courtney. So glad to hear that you enjoyed our soup. This soup freezes really well. Great way to warm up from the inside out on these cooler days. Stay well and take care
Left over curry ? And, Bobbi, from where would one get that ? In this house the pot is empty before the appetite is satisfied 🙂 !! And why a, I getting a tad of a feeling you would so like to be in Hong Kong at the moment . . . clouds departing and comfortably cooling but not cold . . .Well, ’tis 28 C here today and tomorrow one degree less . . . don’t know we are all that comfortable with the summer nods to us . . . not after last year . . . but we have had some rain and not too stormy weather and too many trees came to the end of their lives for there to be 100 km wide burns which made the glaciers in New Zealand 2000 km away melt and colour . . . we pray . . . we hope . . . we male lovely soup . . . your way !!!
Crazy, right? Leftovers in our house? LOL … You guessed that right. Missing HK very much and can’t wait for things to get sorted so we can return. All of these forest fires have negatively impacted many parts of the world. Hoping the environment can do a little self healing along with prevention.
This is very pretty. I love anything curried. I usually purée soups like this (obviously not with the chicken) but I love it all chunky and with the broth. Fabulous!
Thanks so much Mimi. The curry warms you up from the inside out on these cool days. Take Care
We had the same kind of crazy temperature swing over here. A few days of the most incredible summer weather where we were wearing shorts followed by cranking the heat up in the morning. Last week we even had a snow flurry of you can believe that!
I just love a nice chunky ‘real’ soup…hey, I was brought up on Campbell’s and now when I’m desperate and open a can of it I wonder why I ever thought it was so good. Have to say I haven’t done anything with curry so this is going to be a leap of faith for me – but I’m going to give curry a try. I was never exposed to it until we were renting an apartment while building our house. The woman down below us used to cook curry everything except she would also burn everything to a crisp then open her door to let the smoke and burnt curry fumes out. Sort of turned me off curry.
These last couple of weeks we have had big swings in the temperature with increased humidity and this is just the kind of weather that is perfect for the cold and flu viruses so you need loads of help to stay healthy. Just a touch of turmeric, ginger, ginger and curry powder really helps build your immunity. I think the lady who used to make curry might not have been doing it just right. Normally, when using whole spices for a curry I toast them gently just until they start to pop in the pan, remove them straight away and then use a mortal and pestle to grind them up. It sounds like your neighbour was cooking the spices until they smoked or showed flames … lol and that is not exactly the effect we are going for here… Wishing you a super week!
I love curry soups and there is so much to love about this one. First of all that brown leaf plate that the bowl is sitting on. LOVE it. And every curry soup I’ve ever made has had coconut milk. Really like this brothy version. Pnned.
Oh my goodness, Bobbi, you just know that this will be a staple in my house this winter. Love that it’s so quick and easy and jam packed with flavour. Your photos are out of this world, my friend. Simply stunning!
The weather has changed here suddenly as well. There are even some tiny snow flurries coming down this morning! lol
Sharing your beautiful soup all over 🙂 Love it!
It’s certainly fall here! Soups are definitely on my radar. Love the rusticness of this dish Bam. I also LOVE your leaf plates. So festive and adorable!
It is not even really cold here in HK yet but I am craving soups. I think even more I have been just craving curry and something warming. I am so glad you like my pottery leaf plates… I actually made them while I lived in Japan. I used real leaves as a template for my dishes and each of my dishes are unique sizes… miss those days.
This is such a simple and delicious soup! I also love the little bowls you serve them in. I’m still looking for adorable soup bowls like yours! And I can imagine adding just a tad of coconut milk to make a creamy version… yum!
Adding a bit of coconut milk would be brilliant! Actually those bowls are miso soup bowls from Japan.
Just a great soup with wonderful flavors, definitely a perfect finger warmer. Way colder here, more like 10C and I saw like 4C this wkd … but was 20C this past Monday. Go figure. Adore that leaf shaped plate!
This sounds really delicious, never thought of mixing curry and soup together. Another great idea
This is really very good soup, I feel I can smell it from here with all these goodies in it. This is a must try for me, went to my to do list.
Sounds perfect for the fall weather! I love your bowl set and always enjoy your photos, Bobbi!
We have had the same swings in temperature. Monday was about 33C and the next day was 18C; it’s sundresses one day and winter clothes the next. I do love how healthy this soup is and the curry in it would give wonderful heat xx
Sometimes I crave something with a little spice. I never used to but now that I live in damp Hong Kong I crave it more and more…
Oh Bobbi! How I wish to have this chicken curry soup right now. And now I am dreaming about snuggling under the covers and having this warm soup. Love this is so quick and ready in 30 minutes!
The very same thing happened here in Canberra, we had sweltering 32c right down to 12c in a space of 24hrs. We even turned our heaters back on. Most unusual! Loving your warming chicken soup tho, it looks delicious. The temps are back up, but knowing the Berra, we can expect a few more drastic temp drops before we settle into Summer, so I am sure Ill get to enjoy this recipe. 🙂
Hello Anna! Mother nature just can’t seem to make up her mind. Those huge swings of hot and cold are the perfect venue for people to get sick so I encourage you to get some extra vitamin C and enjoy a little soup as it will cure whatever ails you.
This soup looks wonderful–perfect for fall! 🙂
Thank you Nancy! The leftovers, if there are any, are even better the next day.
I love soup (having some for dinner tonight) and I love curry. So this sounds terrific. Speaking of terrific, really nice pictures — like the lighting. Forgot to congratulate you on the move to shooting RAW. It’s more work, but I do think the results are better. Anyway, terrific recipe — thanks.
Thank you John, your words of encouragement and gentle push for me to shoot raw was all I needed. Loving it. Loads more work but I think worth it. Still loads to learn but really enjoy the cooking and photography. My family just want me to keep cooking and skip the photography… as keeping my families little paws out of the photo for just a few minutes is my biggest struggle… LOL
Looks perfectly satisfying right now!!
Sending a virtual bowl your way!
Winter is coming to our neck of the woods and this is the perfect soup to chase away the winter blues.
Old man winter is surely on its way. I heard there is supposed to be a frost tonight so protect your harvest dearest Norma!
No frost yet, but tomorrow night for sure, must remember to cover my crops tomorrow.
I can not tell you how good this looks to me right now! I have a cold and I don’t feel good! This would be perfect. Maybe I can get Manservant to make it for me~
Wishing you a quick recovery Abbe! LOL Manservant… you are too funny!
What a wonderful recipe Bam.
Have a happy day.
🙂 Mandy xo
Thank you Mandy, wishing you a very happy day too!
This looks so yummy! Missing the fall weather you mentioned, its super hot and humid here in Singapore!
I am pinning this to try one day very soon. I love soup, love curry so this is perfect for me. I’m sure my husband and I will devour it. Thanks!
Hi Bam – just wanted to let you know I made this soup and my husband and I loved it! I knew it would it would a busy day today so I made a pot yesterday and heated it for dinner tonight. We just polished most of it off. I had big bowls myself (with some chinese broccoli on the side) and it was really tasty, totally hit the spot! : ) I love that it’s spicy yet sweet from the carrots and onions. I’ll definitely be making it again. Adding udon sounds like a great idea; I usually have some in the freezer. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Monica, so happy to hear that your family enjoyed the soup, its even better the next day.
