There is only one way to make a juicy melt in your mouth steak even better and that is to dip it into our Healthy Alternative Zip Sauce. With only 4 ingredients and only 5 minutes to make, why not! Right? It's zippy, aromatic, savory and oh sooooo good.

    Who is Matt Prentice?

Have you ever been to one of Matt Prentice restaurants? The Matt Prentice Restaurant Group used to run more than a dozen eateries in the metropolitan area of Detroit, Michigan. Ready to make a come back, Detroit chef Matt Prentice and Leon & Lulu c0-owner Mary Liz Curtin are in the process of opening and new American Cuisine restaurant in downtown Clawson. Matt Prentice was the inspiration for our Healthier Alternative Zip Sauce.

Inspiration for the Healthier Alternative Zip Sauce

Matt Prentice is well known in Detroit for his special Zip sauce at the No. VI Chop House and Lobster Bar. Seriously delicious, you almost just want to do shots of this sauce. Super buttery, herbs and melt in your mouth steak is just what you need. However, you don't need the fat, calories and dairy in the real butter as Extra Virgin Olive Oil is delicious and so much better for you.

    Keeping it Easy and Healthy

We have used only 4 little ingredients in our Healthier Alternative Zip Sauce and it takes less than 5 minutes to whip together. You gotta love that! We used Mie Radici Extra Virgin Olive Oil, fresh minced garlic, soy sauce (or tamari sauce) to keep it gluten free and a little fresh ground black pepper. That is it. No fuss. No worries. Our Healthier Alternative Zip sauce is Keto and low carb friendly, gluten-free and vegan. Feel free to add fresh herbs like rosemary and oregano or whatever your little heart desires.

Fabulous ways to use ZIP SAUCE

    1. Delicious as a dipping sauce for grilled and pan fried steaks, grilled portobella mushrooms and roasted pork tenderloin
    2. Use as a marinade for your grilled vegetables and tempeh
    3. Leftover zip sauce is great thrown into fried rice and Chinese Stir fries

    Let the Grilling Season Commence!

Do you still have snow? It is getting pretty old and tiring shoveling a path out to the BBQ grill and we are so excited for the grilling season to commence. Spring is on it's way. We hope you try our Grilled Flank Steak with Thai Style Chimichurri Sauce for a fun twist on the usual flank steak with a unique dipping sauce. If you have not tried cooking shishito peppers on grill yet, you are going to want to check out our How to Grill Shishito Peppers on the grill tutorial. In addition, we have a delightful round up from some of our favorite foodies featuring Summer Grilling and Chilling Recipes. We are certain you will find a couple you will want to try.

We love zip sauce -- have to have it on every steak. Always get a strange look from the waitress when I ask for soy sauce.

Hi there Dana! Do you do that too?! Most places around the world have never heard of Detroit zip sauce. Love that you can ask for the ingredients when you are dining out on steak. Brilliant!

I love zip sauce....I have chosen a great steak house based on the quality of the zip sauce. Therefore, I was delighted to find this gem of a recipe for zip sauce that is not loaded up on butter. It is really, really good, and I did use it on top of our filets as well as our grilled mushrooms. ...I added one extra clove of garlic.

this sounds wonderful, but I’d love to see the original recipe! I’m going to google it. I’m not scared of butter... even though maybe I should be!
