How To Make The BEST Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps

Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps are a delicious low carb appetizer; cheesy, zesty, creamy and crunchy- all wrapped up into one. Perfect party food!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
    minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper 
    (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 18 leaves Lettuce leaves
    (we used red leaf lettuce but can use romaine or iceberg, etc) washed cleaned and dry.

Optional Toppings as Desired

  • 1 cup Guacamole (avocado, lime juice, tomato, salt and pepper to taste) - optional
  • 1 Tomato
    chopped - optional
  • 1/4 cup Cotija cheese
    crumbled as desired - optional
  • 1/3 cup Red bell pepper
    chopped finely - optional
  • 2 Jalapeno
    chopped finely - optional
  • 1/2 cup Coriander (cilantro)
    chopped - optional
  • Limes
    optional
  • And anything else your little heart desires (onion, fresh salsa, etc)

Instructions

  • Add oil in skillet and brown your ground turkey. Add the Taco seasonings (chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, paprika, salt and cayenne pepper) Add water and mix well. Set aside and keep warm.
  • Lay out your clean and dry lettuce leaves and top with warm ground taco turkey and any topping you desire. We topped with freshly made guacamole, tomato, cheese, red bell pepper, jalapeno and coriander.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

We made a quick guacamole from scratch which consisted of mashing 2 ripe avocados, lime, tomato, salt and mixing well. If you are feeling lazy just slice some avocado on top. Avocados are delicious and perfect on this low carb lettuce wrap. Avocados are a nutritive super food full of minerals and vitamins and fiber. Super creamy and delicious and make you feel fuller longer and more satisfied due their healthy fats.
