Panettone French Toast with Buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup

Delicious Panettone dipped in a rich and delicious egg batter laced with cinnamon, all spice, ginger and nutmeg grilled to perfection and topped with a drizzle of buttery maple syrup laced with a splash of orange liquor and holiday spices.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices panettone bread
    thick slices with paper removed
  • 4 egg
    beaten or egg beaters
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
    (or can use cream, regular milk or soy)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon dried ground
  • 1/4 tsp ginger dried ground
  • 1/4 tsp all spice
    dried ground
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
    dried ground
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 tsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
    or sugar alternative

Buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup

  • 1 tsp butter
  • 2 tbsp Cointreau (or other orange liquor)
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon dried ground

Instructions

  • In a flat bowl or serving dish mix eggs, almond milk, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, vanilla, butter. Dip each of the panettone bread slices into the egg mixture on both sides. In a separate plate, add the sugar and dip each of the eggy panettone breads on each side. This step give the French bread its deep golden color and sweetness.
  • Add a knob of butter into your skillet and fry your panettone French toasts until golden brown on both side. Set aside, keep warm.
  • In the meantime, add a knob of butter and Cointreau to a small pot until the alcohol burns off and the butter melts. Add the maple syrup and cinnamon and heat until warm.
  • Serve your delicious panettone French toast breads with a drizzle of buttery Maple Cointreau Syrup and garnish with oranges. Enjoy!
